2 Arrested In ‘Disturbing Crime’ At Cemetery: North Haven Police

"Their actions have caused real emotional harm to the grieving family…," according to police.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two East Haven residents are accused of stealing items from a gravestone at a cemetery in North Haven, according to police.

Police said Robert Natale, 45, and Krista Natale, 44, have been arrested in connection with a “disturbing crime — stealing personal and sentimental items left at an unrelated loved one’s gravestone in All Saints Cemetery.”

“This act is not just theft — it’s a violation of a sacred space meant for mourning, reflection, and respect,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The suspects were identified and subsequently arrested by warrant thanks to swift patrol work and help from the family.

“Their actions have caused real emotional harm to the grieving family, and we want to be clear: this kind of behavior will not be tolerated in our community. If you disrespect the dead and victimize the living, expect to be held accountable.

“The community deserves better — and the families who visit these graves deserve peace, not fear that their tributes will be stolen by cowards. We’ll certainly send you to court, but you are playing with karma. We advise against it.”
