‘Heavily Intoxicated’ Man Tries To Drive, Gets Arrested: North Haven Police
Police said a heavily intoxicated man was arrested after trying to drive and interfering with an officer on Christmas Eve.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A man who appeared to be “heavily intoxicated” was arrested after trying to drive and making physical contact with a police officer on Christmas Eve, according to police.
Police responded to a report of a disturbance on Dec. 24 and met with a 32-year-old North Haven resident.
Police said the man appeared to be heavily intoxicated and said he intended to drive while the officers were present.

Officers advised him that operating a vehicle while intoxicated would “result in his arrest,” according to police.
Despite the warnings, police said the man refused to comply with officers’ instructions. He then tried to make physical contact with one of the officers and was placed under arrest, according to police.

The man was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer.
“The North Haven Police Department would like to stress the serious consequences of drinking and driving,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We remind the public that operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangers not only the driver but also the lives of others in our community, and such behavior will be met with enforcement and accountability.”
