Convicted Felon Fled Crash Site On Foot: North Haven Police
The suspect was hiding underneath a pile of down trees/limbs in the woods, police said, while adding they also found cocaine.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A convicted felon was arrested in North Haven after being involved in a motor vehicle crash Friday afternoon, police said.
At 2:30 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle crash with an injury near 370 State Street, police sad.
Police said a driver of one of the vehicles fled on foot westbound through the woods behind the gas station/car wash.

Patrol officers established a perimeter and Officer Dahlstrom and K-9 Cyrus were deployed, police said.
"After an extensive search, it was believed the suspect was hiding underneath a pile of down trees / limbs in the woods near the 1000 block of Hartford Turnpike," police said in a news release. "K9 Cyrus was called over to negotiate with the suspect, who then decided to comply."

Elixavier Gonzalez, 43, of New York, was taken into custody. His vehicle was towed, and a secondary search of his believed path of travel led police to a bag containing multiple small bags of suspected cocaine (48 grams), police said. Gonzales was charged with evading with injury, interfering, possession of narcotics, and possession with intent to sell.
Gonzales, a convicted felon with a criminal history out of New York involving drug possession, drug sale, and gun charges, was initially given a $350,000 bond, police said. His bond was later lowered to $175,000, police added.
