Holiday Food & Gift Card Registration Begins In North Haven

North Haven parents facing financial hardships can register for the food distribution and gift card program. Read details here.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (Contributed): The Community Services office for the Town of North Haven announces that North Haven residents are now welcome to reserve their names for the 2021 Holiday Food Distribution Program and /or Holiday Gift Card Program.

The Holiday Gift Card Distribution is intended for North Haven parents (or legal guardians) with children ages 18 and under who are facing financial hardship. Parents are welcome to call the Community Services office to register.

When calling to register, they must provide names of each of the children residing in the home, ages and school they attend. They will be asked to share the type of hardship benefit that they receive, and will be asked to show this proof of hardship at the time of appointment. Examples of proof of hardship include but are not limited to: Social Security benefit letter, State of CT Connect card, Husky card, SNAP benefit letter, Care 4 Kids letter. They will also be asked to present birth certificates for each child in the household and a valid driver’s license. Appointments to pick up the gift cards will be available during the week of Dec. 13.

The Holiday Food Distribution in intended for North Haven residents facing food insecurity. The distribution will take place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 in the gym at the Recreation Center, 7 Linsley St. (next to Town Hall Annex). Parking will be available on Linsley St. as well as the local parking lots.

If you would like to sign up for either of these programs, make a donation or have any questions regarding either of the distributions, call the Community Services office any time between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at 203-239-5321 ext. 500. Requests for food must be received by Dec. 10; requests for gift cards must be received by Dec. 16.
