North Haven Historical Society Hosts Life & Paintings Of Alfred Tulk
Ann Clark will present the life & paintings of Alfred Tulk on Apr.5 at North Haven Library, the painting will also be on display for April.

From North Haven Library: Ann Clark of the North Haven Historical Society will present a program on the life and paintings of artist Alfred Tulk at the North Haven Memorial Library on Wednesday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. Clark, a personal friend of Tulk, will discuss this world renowned artist who painted over 300 large murals between 1925 and 1954 for theatres, churches, hotels, restaurants and private homes.
Tulk was born in London, England in 1899 and graduated from Yale University in 1923. He studied under Max Weber who taught other notable modernists of the period including Mark Rothko. Tulk worked as an assistant to muralist Ezra Winter who was commissioned for a major mural in Rockefeller Center. During World War II Tulk painted altar triptychs for U.S. Chaplains in camps and on battleships. Tulk resided in North Haven from 1965 - 88.
An exhibit of his paintings will be available at the library during the month of April.
