North Haven PD Says Goodbye To Outgoing Police Chief: Video

"He truly has left his mark on every aspect of our agency," officials wrote in a statement.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The North Haven Police Department recently said goodbye to outgoing Police Chief Kevin Glenn, who retired from the force after 25 years of service, including the past seven years as chief.

Glenn retired from North Haven on Friday, Sept. 5, and was sworn in as East Lyme’s new police chief on Monday night.

Glenn was the North Haven Police Department’s seventh police chief in its history, and was the youngest in the department’s history when he was appointed when he was 41, according to a post on Facebook.

“Despite his young age, Chief Glenn hit the ground running,” reads a post on the North Haven Police Department’s Facebook page. “He was disciplined, fair, and held people accountable. He brought an immense amount of change and progressive policing to our agency.

“He played a major role in nearly every aspect of the Department. He served as commander of the Uniformed Services Division, Investigative Services Division, and regional SWAT team. He was a key player in our building renovation project. He regionalized our SWAT team with area towns, developed our k9 program, put us on social media, and was the first in the state to embed a Domestic Violence Social Worker at a police department.

“He provided us with new equipment, more police officers, enhanced training, increased recruitment efforts, and the resources we need to succeed. He truly has left his mark on every aspect of our agency. On top of doing all that, he did it while being kind and respectful to his people. You didn’t work FOR Chief Glenn because you HAD to, you worked WITH him, because you WANTED to.

“Our police department has built a meaningful relationship with our residents and stakeholders, as well as an incredible reputation with the State’s Attorney’s office, because of Chief Glenn’s leadership. We thank him for his service and dedication. As much as we will miss him, we wish him well in his future endeavors!”

Glenn is succeeded by new North Haven Police Chief Andrew Stavrides, who most recently served as deputy chief and was unanimously approved by the North Haven Board of Police Commissioners at a special meeting on Aug. 26.
