Obituary: Joan DeMatteo, 82, of North Haven

Joan worked many years for AFL-CIO, cherished spending time with family, and enjoyed cooking, reading, jigsaw puzzles and ceramics.

NORTH HAVEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) In New Haven January 10, 2022 Joan DeMatteo 82, of North Haven. Beloved wife of Ralph DeMatteo, Jr., loving mother of Ralph DeMatteo, III (wife, Anna) of North Branford; Kevin DeMatteo (wife, Yvonne) of North Haven; Michele Morton (husband, Bob) of Milford and Renee Greenman (husband, John) of East Hampton.

Also survived by her cherished grandchildren Jennifer DeMatteo, Shana DeMatteo, Isabelle Heltke (husband, Dave) and great grandchildren Mikayla DeMatteo, Aiden Mercado, Adrien Mercado and Kenny Weyel.

Predeceased by brothers Billy, Joey, Johnny and Bobby Earley and sister Anne Finn. Joan was born in New Haven April 23, 1939 daughter of the late John and Anne Galligan Earley.

She retired after 41 years from AFL-CIO, enjoying a life of cooking, weekly Sunday dinners with her family, reading, jigsaw puzzles and ceramics.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven followed by entombment at All Saints Mausoleum, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 17 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
