Obituary: Michael A. Carney, 75, formerly of North Haven
Mike, known for his quick Irish wit, kindness and love, was a successful entrepreneur, community staple and devoted family man and friend.

NORTH HAVEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Michael A. Carney, 75, was blessed to have passed into Heaven on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, the Love of his Life, Mary Lynn (Salch) Carney of Wallingford, his precious daughters, Kristen DeMartino and husband, Steven, of Durham, Heather Blanco and husband, Marlon of Marshfield, MA, Lauren Whitlock and husband, Todd of Wallingford; and beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Amalia DeMartino and Hannah, Olivia, Sofia and Noah Blanco.
Mike was born in Portland, Maine on July 10, 1946 to the late Vincent and Gertrude (Schuller) Carney. He graduated from North Haven High School, worked at Pratt and Whitney and Titan Tool and Dye before venturing into the world of sales, with various companies, including the Nestle Company.
In 1986 he started his own Painting and Wallpapering business and worked with his “Partner” Lauren for 32 years. He and his wife loved spending their summer weekends on their boat “Meant To Be”, experiencing fond friendships and memories at Saybrook Point Marina.
He was a member of the Wallingford Elks and loved spending time with Tony and the “Guys” at Chick’s Auto Parts, Inc. He adored his beautiful daughters and loved nothing more than, through the years, to watch his beloved grandchildren grow and excel in their chosen sports.
Mike was a beautiful man inside and out and loved by everyone who met him.
He was a wonderful, kind and loving man, known for his quick Irish wit, and whose main purpose in life was to make people smile.
He loved the Lord and recited the 23rd Psalm every day. His wife, children and grandchildren were his whole world. He has left a huge whole in our hearts, but we are all better people to have known him. We all will miss him tremendously.
Michael’s Family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 4 pm until 7 pm.
The next day a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford at 10:00 am.
Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
