Obituary: Stanley Lee Cowan, 87, of North Haven

Stanley worked at Gulf Oil for 29 years and was one of the founding members and partner at R.Y.C.K. Builders.

NORTH HAVEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Stanley Lee Cowan, 87, of North Haven, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at The Connecticut Hospice from complications of Covid-19.

Stanley was born on February 20, 1934 in Blaine, ME, the son of the late Leigh & Alma Cowan. He was the devoted husband of Carol Joy Cowan, the beloved father of Gloria "Lori" Powlishen (predeceased by his son-in-law, Stephen) and David Cowan (Renee) and the brother of Audrey Herring.

He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Megan (Marc) Quist, Brooke (Anthony) Nero and his great-granddaughters, Siena & Lucie Quist and Aria & Elena Nero. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores Cowan & Gail D’Andrea.

Stanley met his sweetheart, Carol when they were just 15 years old at church. They were married for 68 years and traveled to many places and countries throughout that time.

Stanley worked at Gulf Oil for 29 years. He was one of the founding members and a partner at R.Y.C.K. Builders that rehabbed buildings in New Haven.

He had a huge garden that he took care of over the years and loved riding his John Deere tractor, as well as being a lover of animals who owned his own horse.

Stanley’s faith was of the utmost importance to him. He and Carol attended Heritage Baptist Church in Wallingford.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Wednesday, November 24th from 9– 10am with a funeral service at 10am. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery.
