Patch 101 How To: Post A Note

Sometimes in life you have a long speech to make, and sometimes you just need to dash off a few quick thoughts.

Patch has you covered whether it’s, “Are the Little League fields open?” or “What’s moving into that empty storefront?”

We call them “Notes” and they are as easy as posting a status update or sending an email to a friend. All you really need to know is that a note consists of 250 characters (letters and spaces) and can be posted to any open group. You can post just as text or with photos and videos.

During Hurricane Sandy, users of the new Long Beach Patch on Long Island took advantage of Notes to share information about mail delivery, debris pick-up, where gas lines were shortest, even checking on residents to make sure they were OK.

To get started, click the bright green Post button that’s in the top left corner of any Patch page, choose a group that is most appropriate for the kind of information you are seeking or sharing (Around North Haven is always a great choice), and post it! Make sure you share the link on your Facebook and Twitter feeds to get the conversation started.
