Recall Announced For Bakery Items Sent To North Haven Distributor

The CT Department of Consumer Protection is warning consumers that a bakery has recalled several varieties of an item sent to distributors.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is warning consumers that a Danbury-based bakery is recalling several varieties of frozen coffee cake that were sent to a distributor in North Haven.

The recall is due to undeclared milk, which could pose a serious risk to individuals with dairy allergies.

C+R Homestyle Bakery Company has recalled its Frozen Old-Fashioned Coffee Cakes after discovering the presence of milk-based ingredients—specifically sour cream and whey—were not listed on the packaging.

The recall applies to the following flavors: plain, chocolate, blueberry, raspberry, and apple. The products are distributed in 9.5-pound cardboard boxes and were supplied to Dandy Foods in Danbury and Jordan Paige Enterprise Inc. in North Haven. Those companies further distribute the items to restaurants and retail locations such as coffee shops.

No illnesses related to the recalled products have been reported as of Tuesday, according to the Department of Consumer Protection’s Food and Standards Division.

Consumers with milk allergies are advised not to consume the products due to the risk of serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.
