So Far, So Good For North Haven Methadone Clinic

The clinic on State Street, which opened despite many concerns voiced by North Haven residents, hasn't caused any trouble, at least not yet.

On April 27th, despite concerns by North Haven residents, a methadone clinic opened on State Street.

Despite those concerns, the APT clinic hasn't caused any problems, at least not yet, according to the New Haven Register.  The North Haven Police Department reported that no calls have been directly related to the clinic, and neighbors haven't seen a difference either, according to the Register.

“Almost a month now, we got the clinic next door. But the people is very nice. They give us good business,” Lena Watkins, the owner of Mama Rosa's pizzeria, the clinic's closest neighbor, told the New Haven Register. “We got no complaints about nothing."

In October, residents raised concerns about the APT clinic moving into North Haven, saying it would increase crime, according to the New Haven Register. But the clinic has strived to avoid that, and so far has been successful, according to the Register.

“We’re trying to be good neighbors,” Lynn Madden, CEO of the APT Foundation, told the New Haven Register. "We really are."

Does the clinic concern you? Are you happy it moved into town?
