NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven will resume tree and limb debris pickup for both the storm that hit the town earlier this month and from last week’s tornado, First Selectman Michael Freda announced Monday.

Freda said the pickup will begin Monday, Aug. 31, and could last as long as eight weeks to complete. Freda wrote the following update to residents in a post on Facebook:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your patience in the aftermath of the tornado that destroyed several areas of our town. I would like to take a moment here to share with you what our next steps are to continue to help our residents from this point forward. Starting today, we will resume tree and limb debris pickup not only for the first storm back in early August, but also for the debris that you have accumulated from this tornado. This process will be very time consuming and it may take us 8 weeks to complete the pickup for each of our residents. Please bear with us because during this time we will continue to be on schedule with our sanitation and our recyclable pickup.

“We will also be providing bulk pickup for our residents at the end of September. Although the logistics in providing the continuity of these service for our residents is very complicated, we will get it done. On a personal note, I am very sorry that each of you had to endure so much disruption these past few days. Please be assured that we care about each and every one of you and we will do everything that we can to help you. Please bear with us during this time as we move forward with the time it will take to clean up our entire town.”
