Teen, 15, Charged In Purse-Snatching Robberies In North Haven: Police

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with two purse-snatching robberies at gas stations in North Haven last September, according to police.
Police said the robberies happened Sept. 28 at two separate gas stations in North Haven.
“It was later learned that prior to our incidents, a similar crime was committed in Glastonbury with the same suspect vehicle and suspects,” North Haven police wrote in a post on Facebook. “In each case, a stolen Toyota was used to approach unsuspecting victims parked at gas stations. Two individuals would exit the vehicle, open the victims' car door while they were seated, and forcibly took their purses before fleeing the scene.”

Police said a collaborative investigation by North Haven detectives and Glastonbury police linked a 15-year-old juvenile “to the crimes through witness statements, forensic evidence, and digital records.”
An arrest warrant was sought and approved by New Haven Juvenile Court, according to police.

The 15-year-old was arrested Aug. 19 and charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery.
