Victim Found In Roadway With 'Severe Slashing,' Suspect Charged, Held On $200K Bond: North Haven Police

"We hope it's clear to all that we will not tolerate violence in our community," police said in a statement.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A North Haven woman has been charged on a warrant this week concerning an assault that occurred in April, police said.

At 8:15 p.m. on April 20, police responded to a report of an individual in the roadway on Overbrook Road who had sustained a knife wound (severe slashing) to the chest/torso, police said.

Officers provided immediate medical assistance to the victim and conducted a search of the area, police said.

It was determined the suspect had fled prior to officers’ arrival, police said.

North Haven Detectives responded, documented evidence, conducted preliminary interviews, and identified a suspect, police added.

Coordinating with the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, North Haven Detectives executed multiple search and seizure warrants obtaining electronic forensic evidence related to the incident, police said.

Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was prepared and signed by a judge. On July 3, North Haven Detectives located and apprehended the suspect, 37-year-old Brittany Young of North Haven, police said. Young was charged with first-degree assault and remains held on a $200,000 bond.

We don’t care if it’s your birthday, the 4th of July, Christmas Eve, or if we arrest you at work or during your high school reunion. If you are going to commit violence in our town, expect to be arrested, in the moment or after the fact. We will be relentless in our pursuit of you. It’s what the residents of North Haven expect; and deserve."
