Wallingford Man Accused Of Voyeurism, Stalking In North Haven, Police Say

Police said, "investigators discovered multiple files of voyeuristic media involving several female victims."

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Police said a Wallingford man is facing new charges after being arrested on July 4.

On May 8, North Haven Police responded to a report from two young women who said they saw a man looking through their bedroom window in The Flats apartment complex at 520 Washington Ave., police said.

Officers at the time arrived and found Shawn Cornell, 48, of Wallingford, who was subsequently arrested and charged with stalking, voyeurism and breach of peace, police said.

"Following the initial incident, North Haven Detectives launched a comprehensive investigation," police said in a social media post on Saturday. "Through search warrants executed on Cornell’s cellular device, investigators discovered multiple files of voyeuristic media involving several female victims."

As a result, an additional arrest warrant was secured for Cornell, who was arrested on Friday, July 4 and is charged with three counts of second-degree stalking, three counts of voyeurism, and three counts of second-degree breach of peace. He was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

When Cornell was charged in May, the Wallingford Girls Softball League said the accused was a volunteer coach.

"This morning the Wallingford Girls Softball League was made aware of an alleged incident last night in the Town of North Haven that involved one of our volunteer coaches. This individual is no longer affiliated with WGSL," the league said in an email on Friday, May 9. "This alleged incident occurred outside of and did not involve WGSL, but these actions will not be tolerated. The safety, security and trust of our players and families are paramount."
