2 People Escape Fire That Spread Up First Floor Of Multi-Family House In Norwalk

None of the 25 firefighters that battled the fire were injured, Local 830 says.

NORWALK, CT — Two people escaped from a fire at a 2.5-story multi-family house in Norwalk early Sunday morning, the Norwalk Fire Department's Local 830 said in a Facebook post.

The fire was initially called in as a porch fire at around 2:32 a.m. at the Center Avenue home, and two people who were home had gotten out unharmed before firefighters arrived, according to officials.

But upon arrival, firefighters from the Local 830 saw fire on the front porch extending up the front of the house on the first floor, officials said.

The fire was contained to the front porch and the first-floor exterior with the flames extinguished in 20 minutes, and there was minor smoke and heat damage to the first floor, according to officials.

None of the 25 firefighters that battled the fire were injured, officials said.

The Norwalk Fire Marshals' Division is investigating the cause of the fire, according to officials.
