Alice V. Higgins, age 80 of Norwalk, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Alfred and Catherine (Coyle) Haywood. An active member of St. Matthew R.C. Church, she completed the ministry training program, served as Eucharistic Minister and religious educator, and volunteered for the church’s Christmas Fair. She especially enjoyed spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her 6 children; Denise Pote and her husband Tom of Norwalk, Charles Higgins and his wife Maria of Tolland, Kathleen Krenicki and her husband Dan of Norwalk, Edward Higgins and his wife Terry of Eldersberg, MD, Alice DiPisa and her husband Chris of New Fairfield and Daniel Higgins and his husband Alan Boardman of Danbury, 14 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren as well as 3 siblings; Alfred (Charlotte)Haywood, Robert (Madeline) Haywood and Catherine (James) Sullivan and many other loving relatives.
Alice’s family would like to express special thanks to Marie Brown and all of the care givers at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan.
Her family will received friends Jan. 20 at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. The Funeral Mass was held at 11am on Jan. 22 at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk.
