Allan 'Al' J. DiGirolamo, 87, U.S. Navy Veteran

Allan "Al" Joseph DiGirolamo, 87, of Norwalk, CT passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 21, 2012. He was born in Spangler, PA on April 24, 1925, and was a graduate of Norwalk High School. He had been residing for the last few years with his family in North Potomac, MD.  He served with the US Navy from July, 1943 until September, 1945 and was based in the Philippines during World War II.  He was a former Teamsters Local 191 steward and retired from Peckham Industries in 1989.  Outside of work, Al loved working on machinery, engines, and in his garden. His annual tomato harvest was always eagerly awaited by his family.  

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann DiGirolamo; daughter, Mary Ann (Warren) Lanning; grandsons, Warren, Jr. and Allan; sister, Margaret Febbraio; nephew, Daniel DiGirolamo; and niece, Teresa Kroom.  He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph DiGirolamo; mother, Mary DiGirolamo; sister, Evelyn Richardson; and brother, Dante DiGirolamo.  

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the MAGNER FUNERAL HOME, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.  A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
