The suspect made unauthorized purchases at various Home Depot stores using a Westport victim's card, according to authorities.
WESTPORT, CT — A 30-year-old Norwalk man, who authorities said was a contractor, was arrested last week on a warrant in connection with a credit card fraud case, according to Westport police.
William Ayles is accused of making hundreds of dollars worth of unauthorized purchases at various Home Depot stores in February using the credit card of a Westport victim, according to authorities.
"The total of these fraudulent charges was reported to be over $2,000.00," wrote Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso in a statement. "Based on receipts and notes associated with these purchases, the victim suspected that the party responsible was William Ayles, whom he had previously employed as a contractor. Video surveillance of these transactions was obtained. Ultimately, although over two thousand dollars in transactions were attempted, the total loss due to theft was determined to be $1201.30."
