California Man Found Wielding 'Large Machete' On Back Porch Of Norwalk Home: Police

"A dangerous and tense situation" was deescalated while keeping residents safe, police say.

NORWALK, CT — A California man was arrested after police say he showed up unannounced at a home in Norwalk and was found on the back porch wielding a large machete on Saturday morning.

The scenario unfolded at around 7:30 a.m. when the Norwalk Police Department's Patrol Division were called to a home on Scribner Avenue for an unwanted person complaint, with the resident reporting Patrick Norris came to the home unannounced from California and was on the back porch, according to police.

Second platoon officers found Norris, 26, of San Diego, on the back porch armed with a large machete, police said, adding that officers secured the area and began a dialogue with him and after around 40 minutes, he agreed to surrender and was taken into custody.
