Community Menorah Light-Up in Mid-Fairfield County

From The Schneerson Center: The Schneerson Center of CT will be hosting several local area Menorah lightings for the festival of Chanukah, which begins the evening of December 24 and ends on the day January 1. The public is invited to these lightings that will feature, live holiday music, donuts, dreidels and other exciting holiday giveaways. These family friendly events are geared to all ages.

Chanukah, is the Jewish festival of lights. The Chanukah candles shine their radiance into the street, reflecting our task in this world. We must bring light not only inside our own homes, but also outward into the world. Chanukah’s message has something simple but quite significant to say. We repair the world in small steps, light by light, act by act, day by day. G-d asks us to do what we can, when we can. And each act mends a fracture of the world.

Chanukah, the festival of lights, celebrates the victory of the Maccabees over the Greek Syrian oppressors in the land of Israel and the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem with the lighting of the Menorah. Although they had only one day’s supply of olive oil it miraculously lasted eight full days until new oil was obtained. The Menorah is a symbol of hope and freedom. Chanukah is celebrated for eight consecutive days with the lighting of one candle the first night and increasing each night with an additional light until all eight are lit.

A giant outdoor Menorah Lighting at the Wilton Town Green in Wilton, CT. Event will include live music, Chanukah gelt, dreidels, and is perfect for the whole family. Free and open to all. Stew Leonard’s NORWALKS Biggest Menorah Lighting - Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

A giant outdoor Menorah Lighting co-sponsored by Beth Israel & Stew Leonard’s will include live music, hot latkes, Chanukah chocolate gelt, dreidels, and is perfect for the whole family.
