ConnDOT Begins Blasting Project in Norwalk Today
Norwalk I-95 exits 14 & 15 will be impacted during the project.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the beginning of blasting on the shoulder of I-95 in Norwalk for the reconstruction of Interchanges 14 and 15 on or about October 2, 2012.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation has begun the improvements to improve ramp acceleration and deceleration distances on Interstate 95 at Exits 14 and 15. It is necessary to remove portions of rock ledges along both the northbound and southbound sides of I-95 between Taylor Avenue and Route 7 to make room for the reconfigured operational lanes. This work will involve controlled removal of the rock, including some blasting, over the upcoming months.

- The first round of rock removal will start on or about October 2, 2012, weather permitting. During blasting operations, all traffic will be stopped on 1-95 NB and SB between Exits 14 and 15 for 10 minutes. The time period for these closures is anytime between 10 a.m. and 1:00 p.m, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Local Road Impacts
- Prior to the scheduled blast, all traffic will be halted along Church Street, Taylor Avenue & Summit Avenue for up to 10 minutes.
Potential Vibration and Noise Construction Activities
- A warning siren will sound prior to each blast. A second warning siren will signal the all clear.
- Vibration and noise will be monitored on site during the blasting activities.
