Driver Seriously Injured After Head-On Crash Into Tree On Route 7 In Norwalk: FD
Fire officials said the driver was extricated from a car that crashed into a tree in the center grass median of the Route 7 connector.
NORWALK, CT — A driver was seriously injured following a head-on crash into a tree on Route 7 in Norwalk early Saturday morning, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.
In a news release, Deputy Chief Joseph Coppola said the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the center grass median of the Route 7 connector in the area of exits 2 to 1.
When crews arrived in the area, they found a car had crashed head-on into a tree in the median with one occupant trapped inside the vehicle, according to Coppola.

As crews assessed the driver and determined the level of entrapment, a precautionary hose line was stretched to protect the driver and crew members, Coppola said.
As crews extricated the driver from the vehicle, Norwalk EMS began advanced life support treatment, Coppola said.

The driver was freed from the vehicle after nearly 30 minutes and taken to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries, according to Coppola.
Connecticut State Police are currently investigating the crash, Coppola said.
