Garage Apartment 'Gutted' By Structure Fire In Norwalk: FD

Fire officials said two residents were displaced by a structure fire that "gutted" a detached garage apartment in Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT — Two residents were displaced by a structure fire that "gutted" a detached garage apartment Saturday in Norwalk, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay said a detached garage apartment was engulfed in fire when crews arrived on South Street, with flames extending to the main house.

According to Shay, the apartment was gutted by the fire, leaving two residents displaced.

The exterior of the main house was also damaged by the fire, Shay said.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire, according to Shay.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Shay said.
