The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk held its third annual Maritime Golf Classic on Sept. 23, 2013 at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien. Ninety golfers teed off, and raised $99,000 for educational programming for The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.
Charlie Hinnant of Rowayton, a member of the Aquarium’s board of trustees, chaired the event.
Low net was won by the foursome of Brad Jay and Earl Mix of Darien, former Darien resident Peter Pfister now of Williamstown, MA, and Luis Acosta of Old Tappan, N.J.

Low gross was tallied by the foursome of Hinnant, Bill Schaefer of Rowayton, Kent Atherton of New Canaan and Bill Hooks of Wilton.
Prizes were donated by Wee Burn Country Club and Barcelona restaurants.

Auction items included a roundtrip Jet Blue ticket, an NHL/NFL ticket/tour package, a $500 Mitchell’s gift card, a $250 gift certificate to Rowayton Seafood, and four tickets to TV host/naturalist Jeff Corwin’s Nov. 6 appearance at The Maritime Aquarium.
The $99,000 in proceeds from the tournament go toward The Maritime Aquarium’s environmental education programming, which reaches school students throughout the tri-state area.
