Human Services Council Receives Support from Neighborhood Assistance Act
Funds awarded to the Human Services Council through Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act will pay for energy efficiency upgrades.

NORWALK, CT — The Human Services Council is pleased to have been awarded funds through the Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) to make cost saving/energy efficiency upgrades to their community services building which houses ten non-profits who collectively serve more than ten thousand community members throughout the Greater Norwalk area. The Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) is a tax credit program designed to “provide funding for municipal and tax exempt organizations by providing corporate business tax credit for businesses who make cash contributions to these entities.”
The Human Services Council was approved by the State of Connecticut and the City of Norwalk to receive funds through this program for energy efficient upgrades to their building and is currently having new insulation and vinyl siding put onto their more than 100 year old building. The new siding will significantly increase the building’s efficiency significantly cutting costs for the non-profit. “This program provides corporations an opportunity to donate to non-profit agencies while receiving 100% tax credits for their donation. We could not have done this work without the support of Mayor Rilling and our contributing corporations – Purdue Pharma, United Bank and Eversource” said Anthony DiLauro, Executive Director of the Human Services Council. The upgrades are being completed by Sound Renovation, LLC – Roofing & Siding with support from Hatch and Bailey Company.
