Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child, 5, Arrested: Norwalk Police

Police said a Norwalk man accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old child was recently arrested, and his bond was set at $1 million.

NORWALK, CT — A man accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old child was arrested Wednesday at his Norwalk home, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department received a report in March involving a 5-year-old child who "disclosed being the victim of repeated sexual assaults."

According to Podgorski, the child identified the suspect as Jose Rodriguez, 60, of Norwalk.

The department's Special Victims Unit then led an investigation with support and collaboration from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, The Children's Connection, Yale New Haven Hospital and the Stamford Superior Court State's Attorney's Office, Podgorski said.

After an extensive investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for Rodriguez on Wednesday and arrested him at his home in Norwalk later that day, according to Podgorski.

Rodriguez was charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

His bond was set at $1 million and he is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, according to Podgorski.
