Saturday, November 5 also is part of The Maritime Aquarium’s “Coat Drive Weekend,” which supports Person-to-Person of Norwalk. It’s part of The Maritime Aquarium’s “Closer to Our Community” initiative, which engages the popular family attraction (and its visitors) in ways that benefit the local community. On November 5 and 6, guests donating a new or gently used winter coat, hat or gloves receive $5 off a children’s admission.

“Norwalk residents won’t need a coat–drive discount on November 5 because they receive free admission through ‘Salute Norwalk Day,’” said Dave Sigworth, the Aquarium’s spokesman. “But we still encourage Norwalk residents to help their neighbors in need by donating some form of winter apparel.”

Visits to The Maritime Aquarium bring families closer as they get close to more than 2,700 marine animals, including sand tiger sharks, harbor seals, river otters, sea turtles and pulsing jellyfish – all native to Long Island Sound, its watershed and the oceans beyond.
