New Norwalk Hobby Lobby Store Now Hiring, Plans To Open Late February

A sign is up at Norwalk's first Hobby Lobby store, and the company confirmed the location is now hiring ahead of a planned February opening.

NORWALK, CT — As work continues on the city's first Hobby Lobby store, the company recently confirmed to Patch the new store is scheduled to open later this month and is now hiring.

In an email late last week, a company spokesperson confirmed the store is still on track to open at 380 Main Avenue by the end of February.

"We are working toward our new store opening in late February," the spokesperson said.

According to the career center section of the company's website, Hobby Lobby is accepting applications for temporary setup help at the Norwalk store.

Positions start out as temporary with the opportunity for full-time and part-time positions, according to the posted job description.

"We offer exciting career opportunities for bright, energetic and talented individuals in a stimulating, fast-paced and team-oriented culture," the description reads.

The job description also reveals the Norwalk store's hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The store will be closed Sundays.

Departments include art, crafts, custom frames, fabrics, floral and hobbies.

The full job description, including salary ranges, can be found here.

Work on the new Hobby Lobby location could recently be seen taking place at the former Bob's clothing store space, located between a Stop and Shop grocery store and Total Wine liquor store.

Once open, the Norwalk store will mark Hobby Lobby's fifth location in Connecticut. The national retail chain, with over 1,000 stores nationwide, currently operates stores in Milford, East Haven, Manchester and Bristol.

The Main Avenue space was previously home to the city's only Bob's clothing store for many years, however the company officially shut down the store back in March.

Greater Norwalk Chamber President Shannon O'Toole Giandurco told Patch in November the chamber was pleased to see a space as large as the former Bob's store repurposed and renovated promptly rather than remaining vacant.

"With the nearest location in Milford," O'Toole Giandurco said to Patch, "this new Hobby Lobby will certainly attract Fairfield County customers eager to shop at a nationally recognized store, bringing additional activity to the Norwalk area."
