NORWALK, CT — Chiu Fai Garden recently reopened at 48 Westport Avenue over a year after a fire broke out at the building.

Signs posted outside the Chinese restaurant Thursday noted the business had reopened to customers, who could also be seen entering the restaurant that afternoon.

In February 2023, Deputy Fire Chief Adam Markowitz said a blaze was reported at the two-story commercial building, with flames and heavy smoke coming from the roof toward the center of the building.

According to Markowitz, the fire appeared to have started in the stove area of a restaurant and made its way up the vent work to the roof. Crews extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported, Markowitz said.
