Norwalk Doctor Fined, Accused Of Injecting Wrong Drug Into Patient: Report
A Norwalk doctor accused of injecting the wrong drug into a patient prior to surgery was fined $10,000 by the state Medical Examining Board.
NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk doctor accused of injecting the wrong drug into a patient prior to a December 2020 knee surgery was fined $10,000 Tuesday by the state Medical Examining Board, The Norwalk Hour reported.
According to The Hour, state Department of Public Health investigators found Dr. Michael Smith did not check the vial of the drug he injected into a patient, who suffered seizure activity after being administered Tranexamic acid instead of the anesthetic Bupivacaine.
