Norwalk Man Arrested for Possession of Crack Near School

Two men from Norwalk and Stamford were arrested Monday morning on narcotics-related charges after being pulled over for having a partially obscured license plate, according to Norwalk Police.

Dwight Bingham, age 51 of 2 Wilbur St. in Norwalk, was reportedly driving in the Lowe Street and Martin Luther King Drive area with Hugh Mollison, a 46-year-old of 597 Pacific St. in Stamford, at about 12:30 a.m., according to police.

The midnight officer on patrol, who was driving behind Bingham's vehicle, reportedly noticed the license plate on Bingham's car was partially obscured and stopped the vehicle, police said.

The officer found Bingham's car reportedly had a suspended registration due to lack of insurance, according to police.

Bingham allegedly appeared nervous and was sweating profusely, though, so the officer asked him to exit the car and reportedly patted him down, finding what appeared to be narcotics on Bingham's person, police said.

The substance later reportedly tested positively as crack in the narcotics lab, according to police.

Bingham was arrested and charged for driving with a suspended registration, as well as possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics near a school, and his court date is scheduled for July 23, according to police.

Mollison was arrested and charged with use and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia near a school, and his court date is set for July 23 as well, according to police.
