Norwalk Police Remind Residents To Report Unauthorized Solicitors: PD
Police said officers have responded to recent complaints of unpermitted solicitors in Norwalk and are taking action to enforce city code.

NORWALK, CT — Police remind Norwalk residents to report any unauthorized solicitors in light of recent complaints.
In a Facebook post Monday, police said officers have responded to recent complaints of unpermitted solicitors and are taking action to enforce city code.
Police also noted the department has received reports of people soliciting as exterminators, which have not been permitted.

"Unlicensed soliciting is a violation and includes a fine for each residence solicited," police wrote on Facebook. "We ask that residents familiarize themselves with the guidelines and contact the police department if they find solicitors in violation."
According to police, authorized solicitors must adhere to the following guidelines:

- Each business and individual solicitor must submit an application and pass a background check before they are issued a solicitor ID badge.
- A solicitor permit does NOT allow entry to any premises that has postings that restrict public access such as "No Trespassing" or "No Solicitation."
- Soliciting is allowed from 9 a.m. to dusk.
- Solicitors must have a city of Norwalk ID badge displayed, not a company ID badge alone.
Police ask residents to contact the department at 203-854-3000 immediately to report any authorized solicitors.
Anonymous tips can also be left using any of the three methods listed below, according to police:
- Norwalk Police Tip Line: 203-854-3111.
- Anonymous internet tips can be sent to Norwalk Police website at: www.norwalkpd.com.
- Anonymous text tips can be submitted by typing "NORWALKPD" into the text field, followed by the message, and sending it to TIP411 (847411).
