Norwalk Updates Major Sidewalk Project Status

The roadway will feature a narrower paved surface for improved safety/reduced vehicle speeds, and a new crosswalk, officials said.

NORWALK, CT — The City of Norwalk, CT announced an update on the Beacon Street Sidewalk Project.

In a social media post, the city said, "The City of Norwalk’s Beacon Street sidewalk project is officially more than halfway complete! South Side: The sidewalk from Sunset Hill to Strawberry Hill is substantially finished. North Side: Construction is well underway, bringing us closer to completion!"

"As part of a Complete Streets design, the roadway will feature a narrower paved surface for improved safety/reduced vehicle speeds, a new crosswalk at Armstrong Court for easier pedestrian crossing, and protected parking areas for residents and visitors. Please remember drive carefully while work is ongoing to keep our roads safe for everyone!" local officials said.
