Last week Patch featured the project of Rick and Joan Setti's neighbor, Dawn Monteiro, who is assembling a scrapbook of 25 years of collective memories of the Settis' Christmas Village.
The article,"The Children Think This is Santa's House," received a whopping 394 Facebook likes on Norwalk Patch. Nearby, on the Wilton Patch Facebook page the post unexpectedly got thousands of hits. It seems the Settis' Christmas Village, which consists of over 700 handmade wooden figurines and over 150,000 lights, is a destination!
Monteiro also created a rockethub.com, page to raise funds so the Settis can distribute a stuffed animal to the children who visit the Christmas Village, which will light up the night on Thanksgiving beginning at 5:00p.m. when Midwood Road becomes one way for safety.
Monteiro reports that the project has struck a chord in the community and response has been tremendous.
"We've had such a great response with the article from the Patch that we've collected over $500 on rockethub.com and $300 sent directly to me. The donations came from only 18 people. There was one person, whom I don't even know donated $150," said Monteiro.
"I hope that once people come and see what the Setti's house is all about that they will want to donate and share their stories," added Monteiro.
