Over 20 people were cited for passing stopped school buses in Norwalk within five days, according to police.

NORWALK, CT — Over 20 people were cited for passing stopped school buses in Norwalk within five days, according to police.
In a Facebook post, police said the department's Traffic Unit officers took part in Operation Safe Stop Week, which ran from Oct. 20–24, during which officers focused their enforcement efforts on morning and afternoon school transport times.
According to police, officers conducted traffic enforcement in areas of the city where complaints of vehicles passing stopped school buses have been reported.

During the initiative, officers conducted 21 traffic stops for drivers illegally passing stopped school buses, the fine for which is $475, according to police.
"With fall weather here and darker conditions during morning pick-ups, we want to remind all motorists to slow down, stay alert and always stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights," police wrote on Facebook. "Stopping protects our students and helps keep our roadways safe."
