Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, Seriously Injured In Norwalk: Police

NORWALK, CT — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening in Norwalk, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department received multiple reports just before 6 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Connecticut Avenue.

Crews from the Norwalk police and fire departments and Norwalk Hospital EMS were called to the area, where officers found a man in the westbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue and began providing emergency medical care, Podgorski said.

The man, who has not been identified by police yet, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Norwalk Hospital by an ambulance, according to Podgorski.

Podgorski said police are actively working to confirm the pedestrian's identity.

A preliminary investigation determined the pedestrian was walking south across the westbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle, according to Podgorski.

The driver of the vehicle remained in the area, Podgorski said.
