Popular Sports Bar Chain Permanently Closes Norwalk Restaurant, Sole CT Location

The popular chain suddenly closed its Norwalk location this week, and a sign for the restaurant has already been removed from the building.

NORWALK, CT — Yard House, a popular sports bar chain with locations across the country, has permanently closed its Norwalk restaurant and sole location in Connecticut.

A Yard House spokesperson confirmed Tuesday evening the Norwalk restaurant, located at 100 North Water Street in the SoNo Collection mall, is now closed.

"Closing this restaurant is a difficult business decision, and one that we made carefully and thoughtfully," the spokesperson said in a statement, "particularly because it impacts our team members and guests."

A sign for the restaurant had already been removed from the SoNo Collection building as of Tuesday afternoon.

A note posted to the front door of the restaurant also confirmed the location had permanently closed and encouraged customers to visit their nearest sister location, which the sign indicated is The Capital Grille steakhouse in Stamford.

"We appreciate your business," the sign reads.

The restaurant is also listed as "temporarily closed" on the mall's website. A request for comment from the SoNo Collection was not immediately returned Tuesday.

The now-shuttered Norwalk location was the sole Yard House location in Connecticut, with the nearest locations to the state now in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, according to the company's website.

Yard House first opened its 12,000-square-foot Norwalk location at the mall back in 2021 where it loomed a large presence, with its big signage clearly visible from the busy West Avenue near one of the mall's entrances.

The national chain restaurant and bar bills itself as having the world's largest selection of beers on tap. At the time of its opening, the Norwalk location was Yard House's 83rd location overall.

Yard House's menu features "globally inspired dishes and twists on classics made from scratch daily, ensuring there’s something for everyone who visits."

The SoNo Collection house a number of other dining options, including Jacob's Pickles and Pinstripes. Legendary pizzeria Sally's Appiza is also set to open a new location at the mall in the coming months.
