Anna Mazur, 91 of Orange, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born on April 12, 1934 in Tarnopol, Poland to the late Antonie and Wonorka Nibelski. Anna was the beloved wife of the late George Mazur.

Anna was known by those who loved her most as “Gram”, and she truly was surrounded by people who adored her. Having immigrated from Ukraine to the United States with her family she arrived here with nothing but hope and determination which made her deeply appreciative of everything she achieved in life. She loved telling stories about her past- about “the old country”, about surviving World War II, and about the journey that shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Anna, was in every sense, a survivor.

Anna had a deep love for gardening, which was evident in her beautifully manicured lawn and the vibrant flowers which surrounded her home. In her younger years she and her beloved husband George tended to their garden together everyday. They did everything together side by side- grocery shopping, trimming the hedges, even shingling the roof. Anna often reminisced about their weekends spent dancing in New Haven with friends, where they made many cherished memories.

Proud of her Ukrainian heritage, Anna filled her home with meaningful touches that reflected her roots, from her decor to her delicious cooking. Her pierogies, holubsi and borscht, all her own recipes, were family favorites that will always be remembered with love. Later in life, Anna found joy in the simple pleasures of her days. Each morning, as she sipped her cup of tea and ate her bowl of cheerios with sliced banana she would watch the birds and squirrels through the window eat the seeds she had left out for them. She looked forward to watching Mass on television, followed by her favorite talk shows and episodes of Little House on the Prairie. No longer able to maintain a garden outside she tended to her many indoor plants.

Above all, Anna’s greatest joy was her family. She was devoted to them and would have done anything for their happiness. She was especially grateful for the time she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy.
