​Cynthia McBath, 72, previously of Orange CT, beloved wife of the Richard McBath, passed away on 11/26/2025

A pioneer in Connecticut athletics, Cynthia made history as the first woman umpire in the state to officiate men's softball.

Cynthia McBath, 72, previously of Orange CT, beloved wife of the Richard McBath, passed away on 11/26/2025. Born on 3/6/1953 in Milford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Helen Blotney.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Maine, Cindy embarked on a lifelong career in physical education. As a teacher and coach, she inspired countless students through lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth. Over the years, Cindy coached baseball, basketball, and soccer, always bringing enthusiasm, fairness, and unwavering support to every team.

A pioneer in Connecticut athletics, Cynthia made history as the first woman umpire in the state to officiate men’s softball- a milestone that reflected her courage, confidence, and commitment to breaking barriers.

Beyond the classroom and athletic fields, Cindy found joy in many pursuits: peaceful golf outings, memorable trips to New Hampshire, days spent boating, and the satisfaction of hands-on home improvement projects. She embraced life with curiosity and energy, always ready for the next adventure or challenge.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Richard, of 46 years; her daughters, Jaime(Charles) Martin, Kimberly (Rich) Sierzenga; her granddaughters, Mackenzie, Alexa, Kayla Martin and Summer Sierzenga; her sisters-in-law, Maureen Blotney and Charlotte Freer; many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dogs.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, William and Paul Blotney, and her sister in law, Patricia Blotney.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society.
