Obituary: Paul Wydra Sr., 95, Of Orange

Paul Peter Wydra Sr. passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn., surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born on June 29, 1928, in Orange, Conn., to the late Elizabeth and Adam Wydra Sr., beloved husband of 68 years to Beverley Ann Wydra, whom he adored deeply.

Paul was a proud United States Army Veteran who served as a mechanic during the Korean War.

Paul was an extraordinarily hard worker and often worked multiple jobs. He was an expeditor for Avco, worked for the Grassy Hill Country Club, and snow plowed for many Milford businesses. Paul took great pride in maintaining his home and lawn in his free time.

He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife, Beverley, he is survived by their four sons: Paul Wydra Jr. and his wife, Donna; Steven Wydra and his wife, Jacqueline; Michael Wydra and his wife, Berget; and Robert Wydra and his wife, Tracey. Seven grandchildren: Jennifer Downing (Shawn), Paul Wydra III (Jaclyn), Danielle Phelan, Audrey Wydra, Aiden Wydra, Sophia Wydra, Evan Wydra, and one great-granddaughter Spencer Downing. Paul is also survived by his three siblings: Evelyn Zalenski, Regina DeFrank, and Edward Wydra.

Paul is predeceased by his siblings Joseph Wydra, Adam Wydra Jr., Elizabeth Zalenski, John Wydra, Bernard Wydra, and George Wydra.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Cody White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Cody White Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with interment to follow at Union Cemetery in Stratford, Conn.
