Obituary: William A. Sprouls Jr., 94, of Orange

Bill, an avid reader and skilled at billiards and cards, was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and food supplies salesman for many years.

ORANGE, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) William A. Sprouls Jr., age 94, of Orange, formerly of New Canaan, beloved husband of the late Geraldine Mullins Sprouls, passed away on August 29, 2021, in his residence.

Bill was born on April 13, 1927, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late William A. and Muriel (Donovan) Sprouls.

Prior to moving to New Canaan, he and his wife had been longtime residents of Westwood, New Jersey.

He was a graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey and was a retired self-employed food/food supplies salesman.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was an avid reader, skilled billiards player and enjoyed playing black jack in Atlantic City and at the Connecticut casinos.

Survivors include his devoted children, Daniel W. Sprouls and his wife Joan of Florida, and Sharon Doughty and her husband Ken of Stratford, 2 cherished grandchildren, Timothy Doughty and his wife Cynthia, and Jennifer Harris and her husband Michael, great-grandchildren, Layla, William, and Cassius, and a niece, Elizabeth (Miller)Petrie and her husband, James and their children, Sean and Kevin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 3rd at 9:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church 220 Shelton Road Trumbull.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
