The Orange Historical Society maintains three historic buildings in Orange, and, until now, one of them has been a bit hard to visit. But no longer!

The Society announces that starting October, the Stone-Otis House, located at 615 Orange Center Road will now be open on the following Sundays from 1-3PM: October 5,19, November 2,16, and December 14. Stone-Otis also contains a General Store Holiday Shop, which will also be open at those times. Come see the house and store, built by Dennis Stone in 1830. Full tours of the house are $4, which helps to support the Society’s programs.

Bryan-Andrew House, older still, was built in 1740 by Nathan Bryan. Through September, that house will be open on Sundays, but closed for the Country Fair on Sept 21. Beginning October, you are invited to tour the house from 1-3PM on the following dates: October 12, 26, November 9,23, and December 7 and 21. Cost is also $4.

The Academy Museum at 605 Orange Center Road remains open every Saturday from 10-3. The 2nd floor houses a remarkable exhibit showing the history of S.N.E.T, (Southern New England Telephone) which started life in a building down the street. That exhibit is available the 4th Saturday of each month. Admission to the Academy is always free. Both the Academy and Stone-Otis House are places to consider when doing your holiday shopping.
