Police Needed At Next PEZ Easter Egg Hunt After Pushy Parents Incident

PEZ will have an Orange police officer at the next egg hunt.

ORANGE, CT - Hoping to deter pushy parents, police said Pez will need a uniformed officer on site at next year's annual Easter Egg Hunt.

According to a report in the New Haven Register, officials are hoping a police presences at the hunt will avoid the chaos that occurred last Saturday during Pez's free event.

The Easter event attracted over 1,000 attendees and multiple media reports stated that parents pushed their way onto the field, allegedly breaking some children's buckets and ruining the order of the event.

After the Easter Egg hunt commotion, PEZ officials released a statement, according to Fox 61.

“Due to the actions of a few, the good intent quickly turned into a mess. I would like to sincerely apologize to each of our guests, this was not something created to frustrate or make people angry. We only wanted to do good for the local community.”

"I take this personally. I don’t want this to be a reflection of the brand," Shawn Peterson, the general manager of the PEZ visitor center in Orange told NBC Connecticut. "It was a fun thing up until this point."
