Stolen Car Involved In Serious Crash In Orange: Police

Several cars were driving recklessly Monday morning. One of them struck two other cars and a tree before the driver fled into the woods.

ORANGE, CT — One person was arrested after a stolen car crashed in Orange on Monday morning, according to police.

Police received a report of vehicles driving recklessly on Route 34 coming from Derby shortly before 8 a.m.

A gray Kia Sportage was involved in a serious crash moments later near the intersection with Mapledale Road when it hit two other cars before hitting a tree.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver running from the Kia into the woods away from the crash.

An Audi involved in the initial reckless driving complaint then made a U-turn on Route 34 and headed back toward Derby.

The Audi and the crashed Kia were stolen from Waterbury overnight.

The person seen running into the woods was arrested. Police said it was a 17-year-old from New Haven. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation after the crash.
