All it takes is filling a 5-gallon pail with food waste and setting it out curbside once a week. Composting helps the planet and builds stronger communities. It’s a powerful step toward restoring soil health, reducing nutrient loss, and even supporting local agriculture. After all, healthy soil means healthy people. Here’s how our service works: Pick a bin size that fits your household needs. We deliver the bin to your doorstep. You fill it with food scraps throughout the week. Set it out curbside—we’ll handle the rest. Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center

The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center (PNC) provides social and essential services for people of all ages who reside in Stonington, Pawcatuck, Mystic, North Stonington and Westerly. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, serving more than 2,200 people in the food pantry alone. Founded in 1985, the organization is a model for the concept of “neighbors helping neighbors.” The PNC is staffed by a committed team of associates alongside dedicated volunteers working diligently to provide needed services for the local community. PNC’s mission is to improve and enhance the quality of life of residents of all ages living within its service area by providing basic human needs, social interaction and free transportation for seniors. One of the organization’s most notable accomplishments has been the food pantry, with basic food items, but also including vegetables, milk and other necessities that a family needs ranging from diapers to pet food. Other ways the PNC helps residents is through utility assistance, and referrals to government resources. To help people’s minds as well as their bodies, PNC offers recurring services like grief support and caregiver support groups. In addition to being a safety net for residents who need assistance, PNC offers a full range of services to local seniors and veterans. Programs include Meals on Wheels; free door-to-door transportation for residents over the age of 54; exercise classes; health education, vaccines and clinics; and life enrichment, such as painting and writing classes, which are available to local seniors, regardless of income. In addition, PNC hosts a Veterans Coffee Hour and a Community Breakfast in partnership with local organizations. The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center is funded by generous private contributions, local churches and organizations, local municipalities and other groups including United Way, in addition to funds raised through its thrift store, Unexpected Treasures.

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy. The Farm has the ability to host small private indoor events for up to 50 guests in the Farmhouse. Outdoor tented events are our specialty, with numerous locations on-site that are picturesque for your celebration. Outdoor tented celebrations can accommodate up to 250 guests.
