Annual Town Meeting Set For Monday, May 5 At Ridgefield Playhouse

Ridgefield will hold its Annual Town Meeting May 5 to review budget and bonding proposals ahead of a townwide vote on May 13.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on a series of budget and bonding proposals at the town’s Annual Town Meeting, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on May 5 at the Ridgefield Playhouse.

The meeting agenda includes consideration of appropriations recommended by the Board of Finance for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. These include:

  • Town operating and capital expenditures totaling $52.87 million, which comprises $44.93 million in operating costs and $7.93 million in debt service.
  • Board of Education expenditures of $119.8 million.
  • Road and ADA improvements estimated at $2.15 million.
  • Funding for various public works equipment and infrastructure projects, totaling over $1.1 million in appropriations for items such as a highway dump truck, a lowboy truck, sidewalk upgrades, and tertiary road work.
  • Parks and Recreation projects, including $1.29 million for tennis and pickleball court replacements at Ridgefield High School and golf tee box renovations.
  • Public safety equipment, including police mobile computers and tasers, fire department radios, and a senior transportation bus, totaling just over $707,000.
  • Education-related capital upgrades across several Ridgefield schools, including auditorium technology, restroom renovations, visual and performing arts equipment, network infrastructure, classroom furniture, lighting, and playground improvements, totaling about $2.34 million.

Each of the first seven items will be subject to a townwide referendum vote on May 13, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Yanity Gym, 60 Prospect St.

The meeting will also include consideration of a $2.03 million bonding resolution for a variety of public improvements and equipment purchases.
