Ridgefield Shooting: New Details Emerge After Teen Shot During Larceny Attempt

Police are investigating after a 15-year-old teenage girl from Waterbury was shot in the back on Hulda Lane Monday morning.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Police believe the 15-year-old girl from Waterbury who was shot on Hulda Lane Monday was involved with a group of alleged criminals, Ridgefield Police Capt. Jeff Kreitz confirmed with Patch. The girl was shot in the back during an attempted car theft and suffered non life-threatening injuries.

"We don't want to reveal anything that would compromise the case," said Kreitz.

The group which includes four other teenagers has been tied to several other larcenies from vehicles in the area, Kreitz said.

As first reported by the Ridgefield Press, police responded to Hulda Lane for reports of gunshots in the area and at around 3 a.m. Monday morning and were told by a homeowner that someone had tried to steal a car from their driveway. Police were later told that the 15-year-old girl with a gunshot wound was being treated at Waterbury Hospital.

Police say that the State Police Major Crime Squad and Danbury Superior Court are investigating the incidents.
