Ridgefield Among CT's 5 Safest Places to Live: Report

RIDGEFIELD, CT — When it comes to safety, Connecticut ranks high and was recently named the seventh safest state in the county, according to a Wallethub study. Niche.com has drilled down further and has created what it says are the top 100 safest places to live in Connecticut.

Ridgefield ranked No. 5 on the state's safest places to live.

The list has a lot of the usual suspects with Fairfield County taking seven of the top 10 safest communities to live in. Hartford County had two of the top 10 and New Haven County had one town.

Niche.com says that it determined the safest places to live by using crimes rates for murder, assault, rape, burglary and other crime statistics from the FBI and U.S. Census.

“The 2017 Safest Places ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall safety in an area. This grade takes into account key indicators of a location's safety, including violent and property crime rates as well as resident reviews, in an attempt to measure an area's safety and security,” Niche.com says. According to Niche.com the top 5 safest places to live in the entire United States are: 1. Roosevelt Island in New York, 2. Horse Cave in Kentucky, 3. Palmer Lake in Colorado, 4. Mayfield in Pennsylvania, 5. Thomson Township in Minnesota.
